Thank you for taking the time to look over my portfolio. Let me take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I have always loved to draw; but it was not until my uncle introduced me to commercial art and advertising that I knew I wanted to make this my career.
I studied Communication Design at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. In addition to my studies, Kutztown University provided me with many opportunities to practice my craft while I was still a student. I worked as a Student Graphic Designer/Webmaster in the Information Technology Department of the university. As part of the team responsible for the management of the Kutztown University website, my responsibilities included the creation and execution of templates, and troubleshooting and maintenance of the website. I also worked as the Information Architect for the International Students Association at the university. I directed the development of web solutions, and I was responsible for creating intuitive information hierarchies and effective user interfaces for the association's web sites and information systems.
My professional experience includes three years experience working as an Information Architect for a small web design firm. I designed and implemented high-level content organization and navigation structures; such as site maps and navigation systems. I performed content inventories and comparative analyses. I developed taxonomies and controlled vocabularies for search engines. I managed the team responsible for the design and implementation of individualized websites. I completed website optimization, and worked directly with clients to ensure satisfaction. I provided project leadership to eight employees, one offshore, for web production, including production timetable, status reporting, client/project team coordination and quality assurance.
Most recently I have taken on contracts with larger companies. I worked on a three-month contract with Harte-Hanks as an email programmer, and a six-month contract with AAA Mid-Atlantic as and Interactive Designer. At Harte-Hanks, I coded HTML emails and I conducted testing to ensure that the emails have the same look and feel when viewed on different computers and mobile devices. At AAA Mid-Atlantic, I worked closely with clients and support teams to develop email creative for various business lines and their respective products and services. I designed emails from concept to delivery.
I am a hard-working individual who fully enjoys the work that I do. In my spare time, I enjoy keeping myself abreast of new emerging technologies and changes in the field. I rely on my family to tear me away from my work every once in awhile and remind me that there are other things I enjoy doing.
